Brittany Lovely

Legal Fellow

Brittany Lovely is a passionate change agent in the criminal legal system and a racial justice advocate focused on eliminating the collateral consequences of system involvement and ending mass incarceration. She brings unique expertise to this work, drawing from her lived experience of incarceration, intersectional trauma, community and policy advocacy, and systems change leadership development. Ms. Lovely consults on justice and reentry-related issues for governmental and community organizations and leads federal coalitions focused on policy solutions to eliminate barriers for those exiting incarceration.

Currently, Ms. Lovely is a 2026 Juris Doctor Candidate at Georgetown Law, where she is an Opportunity Scholar and a NAACP Legal Defense Fund Herbert Lehman Law Scholar. She also serves the Georgetown Law community as Diversity Liaison for the Student Bar Association.

She previously served the Washington State government as staff to Governor Inslee’s Washington Statewide Reentry Council, where she elevated the Council’s work, guiding meaningful reentry solutions across the state. In 2022, Ms. Lovely won the Washington State Association of College Trustees 2022 Transforming Lives Award. That same year, she was a JustLeadershipUSA’s Leading with Conviction (LwC) Fellow and a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow Seattle. During the 2020 Legislative session, she served in the Washington State House of Representatives as a Legislative Policy Intern, addressing issues across a wide range of topics, including the death penalty, data collection in jail facilities, standard threat group (STG) reclassification, and affordable access to childcare. Before this, she worked as the TRIO Student Support Services Program Coordinator at Lower Columbia College, providing critical support for disadvantaged student populations. Ms. Lovely graduated summa cum laude from Washington State University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs with a concentration in Justice. She is committed to building equitable systems and serving her community to create a better future for all.
